Description
For nearly three years HGA and Perkins + Will have been working together to design and document the Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital. This project consists of a 529,000-square-foot hospital with more than 200 beds and a 218,000-square-foot underground parking garage that will expand the existing facility at Stanford University’s medical campus. As our project moves into construction, we want to share our experiences in a class we would have liked to attend before our project began. This class will give you a comprehensive overview of the project from beginning to end. You will understand the front end planning that went into organizing an effort of this magnitude. We will discuss the alignment, training, and co-location of two architectural firms. From there, we will transition into management techniques for large Building Information Modeling (BIM) projects. We will conclude our discussion with a lessons-learned segment. After attending this class, you will have a tested and repeatable process for approaching your own BIM projects.
Key Learnings
- Administer maintenance and support protocols for dealing with complicated Revit models
- Take advantage of our lessons learned so you know what works and what should be avoided
- Define and reuse the front-end processes involved in setting up a large BIM project in Revit software
- Document management techniques for structuring and working with large complex Revit projects
